For my FMP i will be carrying on with a series of interviews. I am planning to do 4 and all inside the college so that i am able to use the correct resources for recording and editing. What i need to do to get the ball rolling is now plan who and of what possistion in the music industry i am going to be interviewing and once i have planned dates and times for the interviews, i shall write a handful of questions i am going to ask to help the interview go smoothly. After each interview i will do a write up on any other addition information i find out about that roll on the internet.
Within week 1, I identified all 4 interviewees and contacted them and agreed dates and times. I wrote up my rough interview questions suited for each roll i was interviewing. i then later on in the same day got 2 of my interviews done! however, I did these interviews on a recording app called anchor. I did this because it was a quicker and more simple way to do the interview as they where last minute and because there was only two of us, it picked up all the sound perfectly as the microphone was directly inbetween the two of us. Overall the interview went really well, it ran so smoothly that there is hardly nothing that needs editing out! These interviews that i got done early where not rushed, i got the prep work done that i needed to get done and i got on with the next step early. For doing this early, i could probably get an extra interview done before the dead line!
week 2: i got my third interview done, on anchor, this went well and i got a lot of conversation out of it! however this had to be ran twice as somebody walked in on our interview, this could have just been simply edited out but it threw us off completely and we wasn't very far into the interview anyway!
My fourth interview was planned to be at 11am on 13th may however the band didn't show up (until a few hours later). This knocked my confidence slightly as i felt let down because it was all planned and spoke about and everyone was excited about it, i had a booth booked and a whole interview set up with microphones and logic pro open but i kept faith and left the booth set up and got on with some work of my own for the time being. a few hours later on they did show up thankfully so i still mamanged to get the interview done, however one of the band members didnt attend so it was only 3 of them instead of 4 but over all it still went really well, conversation flowed and it was funny which is the most important thing! After the interview i managed to edit it all on logic pro and get it all saved, the interview was roughly 30 minutes.
week 3: This week went pretty smoothly as all my practical work was done so therefore i had no one else to rely on and i just got on with editing the interviews. i did some research on how to edit these interviews and add music into the background to give it a cleaner look and i got it all added in! i managed to get all my interviews uploaded onto my website easily, however i did have some problems with the longest interview (stone lane). it was a struggle trying to download it from one computer to the next and it took a few tries but i got there in the end! Over all i am very happy with my progress, i am on track and pretty much almost finished, for next week i just need to tidy up on some written work and do my final evaluation!
Week 4: final week! This week i just tidied up on everything, i am so pleased i set myself reasonable targets to reach each week to keep myself on track and i got more done quicker then i thought so there has been no last minute stress for me and everything was done and finished before due date (which is an acomplishment for me!)
FINAL EVALUATION:
I am very pleased to have completed my course with a predicted a pass for my work. Things that I think worked really well for me include;
-
My project plan and timeline to complete the work was realistic and achievable.
-
I was able to connect with a broad range of talent to interview and use as content.
-
I produced a wide-ranging set of questions for my interviewees
-
The content produced from my interviews was really interesting to listen to.
-
I learned how to use new digital tool Anchor to record my podcast and Logic Pro software to cut, edit and present the content.
I do feel frustrated as there are many things that I would have done differently if I had not been ill with covid and had a long time off college. Things I could have done differently or improved include;
-
Give myself longer time to produce more content.
-
Network with the industry to identify actual professionals in wide range of jobs to interview.
-
Produce video content as well as podcasts, recording using my iphone and using a tool like iMovie to edit.
-
Produce more written content explaining more technical aspects of industry roles, like digital music marketing, a musician, a festival event organiser.
-
Produce more visual artwork with the content to make it stand out more.
I feel like if I had done the above I would have achieved a merit for my course. However, based on my circumstances I am overall satisfied with my achievements.
